If...

I was just wondering the other day , if I had the kind of access to net (which by the way can be termed as 24x7 theoritically , although practically its much less owing to the greatest ever electricity generationa and distribution company ever to have operated in central India in the history of mankind, and other network problems) how different my life would have been. Now , at 24, with a sense that every moment that I waste is a real wastage of time as well as money (considering the opportunity cost of not working, as I am on a study leave), I sometimes think twice before doing stuff that interests me (The only difference being I now think twice before doing, I still do it). I think this feeling tends to take out the creative edge of the writing (as if there was any earlier). Had it been college days (I know I am still at a college but this is a B-school), I would just have poured out stuff here without thinking a moment about what I am wasting or investing into it.
Orkutting , one of my best pastimes during my office slack days, would also have been so much different. By the way, I for one am a big Orkut fan. It offers you a peep into lives of so many people (I know its quite human to feel the urge to peep into someone's life and it is equally human to pretend that it was never the case with you :-) ). For the competetitive souls its a kind of motivation to better, as in if this fellow could go places so could I!! It tells you a lot about how 'busy' people spend their time. And last but not the least, its one of those places where you can tell the world about yourself even if nobody wants to know about it. So I am a big orkut fan. But if I think the B-school way, it is a big big time pass. At the end of the day you find out that all you have done is to have seen some photographs that you could well have done without ever having fixated your eyes on, you have entered some text into some text boxes which ivokes predictable responses, at best you have told the world how much you love/like your friend through a testimonial but even that doesn't have a market of readers.
Now when I analyze (I generally do it, I used to do it even before I joined a B-School) these two shcools of thoughts, I get confused. The first one is something emanating from my heart which asks me to do things the way I like them and not to bother much about the inflows and outflows of energies and resources, while the other one is a brain oriented and money minded. The interesting thing is that the B-school people say that one should follow one's heart while at college everyone is hell bent on being 'process oriented' .
If .. I could make out what really is one supposed to do, the college (or follow your heart) approach will make me brag about it here in my blog. While the B-school (or its all about brain and money) approach will entail me to pass on the baton of knowledge to the world. Which again shall bring me back here! So whenever I figure it out I shall come back and express my views here.

Till the next time I choose to write something here, I wish you all good luck. Better luck to those who read these blogs regularly and the Best Luck to those who having read this creative non-sense take time out and post their comments!! Thanks a lot for your views! Till the next time , its KGV here signing off (with a poem)

Today I thought I should Write
because I knew it was right
disagree on it you might
In that case you again write
because if I am wrong and you write
it will be some kind of a fight
but if you are wrong then nothings right
coz two wrongs never make one right!

Mind your own business..

Well, Its not the most polite thing to be told to people unless, one is talking in terms of entrepreneurship. Yours truly, is seriously thinking about being an entrepreneur , and has put his hands (and even his brains and mind) to it. Well, it will be quite premature to disclose the 'million dollar' idea now (I shall be happy even if I end up making a million rupees in topline :-)). But I shall still give some clues through this post.

One of the most dignified ways to fame and popularity goes through pen (most involve pain but this one involves a pen... No pun intended). Some writers have really make it big through their powers of expression. I was once told that J.K. Rowling has more wealth than the queen of england. Now if one decided not to challenge the veracity of that claim and accepts this statement, then it is a huge thing. I dont see anyway in which I can be richer than , leave apart some dynastic king, king khan (Shah Rukh Khan) of bollywood. (Although I know I have the potential ;-) to make it bigger than him ). So the point is , one can make it big through writing. So I opened up this blog site, but hardly a few visit this space and all I have got for this is one comment from a friend and fellow blogger. So I really doubt whether there will be many people who shall be interested in reading books written by me. But do you think that it is a fair assumption??
I dont think so.. Blog has got some limitations. Not everyone reads many blogs but almost everyone tries his or her hand at it once. So in the jungle of all this blogs the real fruit baring trees tend to get lost. And unless you have published some of your work , how can you be so sure that you are not as good? I for one cannot believe unless it is proved beyond doubts that I lack the ability. Most of the greats went on to become greats only after being belittled by someone. To quote an example, when the telephone was invested, people ridiculed Graham Bell, and said that why will someone want to listen to weak voice signals when one can clearly communicate things in written through telegrams!! Still Graham Bell believed in his idea and today we can hardly do without a phone! So I have decided that I am going to publish a book, no matter whether there are any takers for it. I shall write for my expression and not for profit. I shall get it printed and I myself shall gift it to some people and if some publisher really likes it then who knows, I may get an offer for getting it published through him. I believe!

Meaning of Life

Well, its been a long time since I last posted on my blog , but the loss of momentum was an aberration. Now after a long time when I have internet and some time at my disposal the first creative (??) thing I do is to create this blog.

My today's amusing musings are about 'meaning of life'. I know its a very philosophical topic and one that will not interest a lot of people out there , but I am still publishing this because intent of this blog's life , if I choose to put it that way, is different from the that of some of other blog articles. Now most lives have some intent but not all lives have meaning. Having said that, meaning of 'meaning' differs from people to people. If you did not understand the meaning of this line , don't worry even I am trying to figure it out. The question may prop up , how do you not know the meaning of something that you yourself have written. Well , this is how , sometimes, things are. You are into something without knowing a lot about it. This perhaps is the best example to demonstrate the fact that one lives on a life, which one knows has some meaning or other but is still unaware of.

I don't know what's the meaning or purpose of my life? I don't comprehend the adage 'Purpose of life is a life of purpose'. My question is what purpose?? I think, a lot (you may also read between the lines by reading the last group of words as 'I think a lot' instead of 'I think, a lot'! anyway continuing ...) of us don't know what exactly is the goal or meaning or purpose of our life is. We all need to discover that sooner or later and sooner the better. We , as per Darwin's theory of evolution , have come from the race of monkeys and hence we still have their tendacy of imitating what other's are doing. And hence , most of the times , it is seen that people just follow what is seen as the best path , best because of its virtue of being travelled most frequently, without considering its relevance to them and their lives.

We all are different and have different constraints. Even in this era of mass production , one size fit all approach does not fit a lot of things , but we use the same in our lives. Everyone is spending a lot on mobile phones, hence I need to. All my colleagues work overtime hence I shall as well. All my friends are in a relationship I also need to get involved with someone. All my freinds are going abroad on office assignments, I must talk to my boss. Everyone is moving to a big city hence I need to move as well. This is how most of us tend to think. If we don't do what is perceived as the best thing then we lag behind. But is there really a race?? If yes , what are we racing for?? If its a race then there can be only one winner and rest all will lose out, does it really happen in life that way? I guess No! I think life is not a race, its a journey, where in some parts one needs to move fast and in some parts slow. A part of it is surely a race , but then there are so many parts and hence there are so many winners in life. Every loser gets another chance most of the times. So why this rush? Why this peer pressure?

Having said all this, even I must admit that I am acted upon by peer pressure. But I am trying to not get affected by it. I reckon, one must find the meaning of life so that he doesnot get affected by peer pressure. If I know that I write this blog just because I want to record my thoughts and let others have a chance to have a look at them, if they wish so, then I shall be least bothered about whether the reader likes the thoughts, or absolutely detests the author on account of his views. But if the peer pressure acts on me then I must ensure that I write in a way that shall make reading of this blog a pleasurable experience for most of the people.

At this moment, I know the meaning of this blog is to record my thoughts, nevertheless, I shall be happy if I end up giving the reader some food for thought, and maybe some reading pleasure!

Momentum

Well, this one happens to be the fifth post that I am going to publish today and hence I was thinking whether I have gathered enough momentum as a blogger. As far as I remember momentum, it is the product of mass and velocity and represents the ability of something to carry forward itself. Because if more is the mometum more will be the force required to stop the activity. Anyway, lets not get into physics and just ponder over whether my blogging has gathered enough momentum to sustain itself against the forces of change. I guess , only time will tell that nevertheless I have started enjoyed blogging.

Momentum, talking in a completely non physical terms, is really important for anything for there always are forces of distractions, changes and dejection (yes arising from not being able to raise up to the expectations of self or others) that impede the momentum and eventually stop the motion completely. Once something gathers momentum, it can grow or progress very fast there are some momentum stocks which move up very fast once they gather momentum.

But then there can be negative momentum as well, its nothing but a momentum that acts in the direction opposite to what is desirable. (If you think you are getting increasingly bored reading my blog then perhaps its negative momentum starting to build up! Stem it at once and carry on reading!). Attitudinal negativity of any kind is never good. But it can gather momentum like anything. So beware of being negative.

Anyway, I think the rate of change of momentum of this blog (i.e. the force exerted by it) should not increase manifold because of my excessive indulgence into expressing myself with the aid of a keyboard. So I shall stop now. (I know I always give excuses before wrapping up my blogs but that is because I gather momentum very fast and such excuses help me stop once I have built up significant amount of typing momentum.) So till the next blog (which by the way can be published anytime) keep gathering good momentum and keep being positive and happy!

Ad-vice

I was just wondering how people make money through blogs. I thought, maybe I am good enough blogger as well to attract enough traffic to my blog and then make money through adsense. But gave up that idea because a friend (The great Lara) advised me to delay it as it shall fetch me more money if I delayed it till the 'hit rate' of my blogged touched a century mark. So I decided to write about ads vices and advices.

Well, my favourite ad off late was the one for IPL - 'Ranjan and Mano , kab aaega tumhara baap?' one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHByZLDbPiw . I just loved the creativity. Its modelled on 1970's hindi movie theme and was an all or nothing kind of an ad. I also appreciate the vodafone ads but then they are kind of safer ads. As in they use some cute dog or little girls in their ads so such ads are going to be hits anyhow. What I liked about this IPL ad was the level of detail to which it was similar to a film. Each and every second of it has a lot of depth, as far as I think. I think, it takes a creative genius to make such a great ad.

About vices, I wish I shall show the virtuosity not to discuss my vices in public. Nevertheless people are welcome to point out my vices by means of their comments and I shall be happy to moderate some comments if they require that kind of a treatment.

Let me come to the real topic as far as today's 'creative nonsense' is concerned. Well, Advice is perhaps the most abudantly available entity in this world. (If not world, then at least in India - which by the way means the world to me). You shall find each and everyone having an advice to offer you in addition to their opinions. Even the great Sachin Tendulkar gets a lot of advices on how to go about batting, from people who are as knowlegeable about the cricket bat , ball and the behaviour of the pitch as they are about the ' various kinds of folk dances practiced by the tribals in sub-saharanwi desert region in the prehistoric epochs'. My advice to you about advice, in general , will be not add to the supply of the already abundantly and freely available entity , unless it is seeked. This statement in itself defeats its own purpose but then it would not have been advisable not to give any advice in an article about advice.

I shall not try to put all my experiences (good as well as not so good) with advices over here. But then some masterpieces deserve a mention over here. Once , a friend of mine was adviced not to buy a laptop with higher HDD capacity because it increases the risk of virus attacks! Reason sighted was - more the disk space more space for viruses just like the amount of dust in your house increases with the area of your house similarly the threat of viruses also increases the same way. We have adviced that friend of ours to nominate himself for the next Nobel prize for breakthrough in computational logic ( I know it does not exist)! So such are advices. Please ensure that you listen to only the advice from good people and sometimes even good people tend to give bad advice. So it is expected that you take your decisions based on your own judgement. Advice can and should always be seeked but then the final call of whether or not to make use of it depends on you! Be responsible for your own decisions and don't complain later . (See it was your decision to read upto this point, now even if you feel that it was a mistake reading the blog this far, you should take it as a learning experience).

The bottomline is I dont offer free advice - I charge my fees !

Third time Lucky??

As the name suggests, this is my third post on the blog and its about luck. Well, people may use a different version of the word luck spelt with a different letter at its beginning to express their exasperation at my third attempt (in vein?) at excelling in creative non-sense as I choose to call this. Anyway people do have a choice not to visit this space. By the way you can see people from which part of the world visited this space. Sadly my ignorant mind has not been able to find a widget, which will reveal the identity of the visitors, yet.

Anyway, I chose to write about luck today, because the first comment ever, in the history of mankind on my blog(posted by my extremely talented friend Lara) , urged me to write about the great encounters between great tennis players like Federer and Nadal, given the context of the recently concluded French Open. Now what has it got to do with Luck. Perhaps nothing much! But it has got to do about being third time Lucky!

This was the third consecutive time that Roger (By the way I have named my Labrador dog by the name of my favourite tennis start Roger) Federer reached the final at Roland Garros. And like the last two times, I was telling myself , maybe this is the year when he does it . But alas! he wasnot lucky enough. Well I would have said so had I not watched the match. The way Nadal played, was just Federeresque! I think, but for Nadal Federer would have won at least two more French Opens and but for Federer Nadal would have won at least one wimbledon till now! Still , I guess it was not Federer's shortage of luck which made him lose this time. But yes, he was not 'third time lucky!'

Luck, I guess, is randomly distributed in equal amounts to people. I guess , people with positive attitude and hard working nature tend to spend less of their allotted quota of luck, while others tend to spend more. Anyway, I am not going to add some more luck to my quota by blabbering here so that will be all.

For those of you who think I can write much better than this , I too think so and it will take some time for me to be at my best. Those who dont think that I cannot do any better, well, you are having a chance to see my best work! So Enjoy!

Second Thoughts

Well, its been exactly five months since I first wrote in this space , (yes, tuesday 8th did turn out to be a Luck(now)y day (I got a call from IIM-Lucknow) but I blew that opportunity away with WL-85!) and I thought that its time now for me to publish my 'second' thoughts! So here I go.

I dont really have a thought of agenda today to write. Its just that I have nothing better to day , before I catch the French Open final (between Ana Ivanovic and Dinara Safina) and follow it up with the Euro 2008 dose. So I decided why not transfer some of my boredom over the internet, in other words, create a boring blog article. Still, being the positive minded guy that I am, I am sure at least I shall manage someone or the other to go through it and I know some people out of the compulsion of being nice will come up with comments like , 'nice article' , 'I didnot know you blog as well' et al, i.e. if I share the link. I have not decided whether or not I shall share the link to this piece of 'creative non-sense' as I choose to call it. So it remains to be seen how the general public reacts to it. Anyway enough of excuses to start blogging.

As I have proceeded to create this text , I have found out that it is extremely difficult to go on doing anything if you don't have an agenda or a blue print or even a vague idea of what you are going to do. It sure is interesting but it may not be good enough to make other people happy. But then one doesnot always blog to make others happy. So the point is , since I have not already thought of what I am going to write about today, I am finding it interesting to continue. I am happy that about most of the things in life I have at least already thought that how I am going to go about them. I dont know whether it is the best thing to do or not. Maybe I shall think over that and come back next time with something interesting (or rather something that I think people might find interesting) . So till then, happy reading! I hope that no matter whether you like this blog or not Roger Federer wins tomorrow at the Roland Garros!
